This workshop was held from April 14-16, 2004 at Arizona State University to bring together several of the international collaborators working in 100 Cities "intensive study" cities. The primary purpose of this workshop was both to launch collaborative research in these cities and to provide more focus for applied remote sensing research to address the real and present problems facing these cities. Representatives of the science and governmental communities attended the workshop from Delhi, India; Lima, Peru; Chiang Mai, Thailand; Cairo, Egypt; Berlin, Germany; and Mexico City, Mexico.
The workshop met its goals of determining areas of applied research for each city and forming initial plans for collaborative research within the context of the UEM project. The results of the workshop are currently planned to form the basis for a future special journal issue or book on the topic of applied remote sensing for city government and planning.
Powerpoint presentations given by the workshop attendees are available via the links below for viewing and download. All presentations are in English unless otherwise noted.
